• Small designer chair for children, derived from the “Bricks Chair” for adults.
• Designer Pepe Heykoop (1984) drew inspiration for this unusual chair from an image by American artist James Gulliver Hancock: "The Bricks Chair was created after seeing an illustration by James Gulliver Hancock. I immediately loved the image and the chair in the left corner caught my attention. I coloured in the image and started building the Brickchair.
• It is the interpretation of a drawing that was already an interpretation of an existing chair. It transformed.
• The drawing led to this chair because both I, and the artist Hancock saw different things in the same object!".
• The chair looks like a child conceived it, or perhaps one day would like to build it.
• The object is a very playful design, with an open-minded and naive look where one is immediately confronted with the disappearance of that open-mindedness as one gets older.
• It is a poetic design, created by an interpretation of an interpretation, a mirage and, as a result, one of the most extraordinary pieces of furniture in existence.
• The chair is assembled from new and used wooden blocks, making each chair unique.
• An internal steel structure means the chair can actually be used, although a cushion is recommended for this.
